Pub­lic in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer of the Po­lice Ser­vice, Sgt Wayne Mys­tar, says two men have been charged with the theft of $23,000 in cop­per wire in To­ba­go. Mys­tar was speak­ing at yes­ter­day's dai­ly news brief­ing at the Po­lice Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing in Port-of-Spain. On April 30, Roy Ja­cob, 60, of Bon Ac­cord De­vel­op­ment found miss­ing a quan­ti­ty of cop­per wire from the com­pound of his fish­ing plant. "A re­port was made and en­quiries con­duct­ed by PC McMil­lan of the Scar­bor­ough CID led to the ar­rest of a 50-year-old man from George Street, Canaan, and 37-year-old man of Silk Cot­ton Trace, Bon Ac­cord," Mys­tar said. Mys­tar said both men ap­peared be­fore a Scar­bor­ough mag­is­trate on Wednes­day, when the younger man plead­ed guilty and was sen­tenced to 12 months' hard labour. The oth­er was re­mand­ed on con­tin­u­ing bail.
