An Arima man will appear in court on Monday after he was arrested at the Queen's Wharf, Port-of-Spain, on Thursday with more than US$500,000 in his possession. The 57-year-old suspect was detained by officers of the Customs and Excise Division and charged for failing to declare the currency, which was found hidden among cargo.
Passengers arriving and leaving this country are required to declare to a customs officer on duty at the air or sea port, all cash currency or monetary instruments in excess of US$5,000 or TT$20,000. Failure to do so can result in them being arrested and charged.
