Central police engaged in a high speed chase, intercepted a vehicle and arrested two San Fernando men with a firearm and ammunition yesterday. The men, both 32, from La Romaine and Marabella, are known to the police. They are expected to be put on identification parade this week in relation to other crimes.
Reports state that around 11 am, officers including Superintendent Johnny Abraham, Inspector Wayne Lawrence, PCs Samson and Roger were on patrols near the Preysal Flyover when they observed the men in a silver Nissan Sunny B14 acting suspiciously. When approached, the men sped off in the car ignoring the officers' commands. The men were cornered on the Rivulet Road in Couva.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a .9 mm pistol loaded with 15 rounds of live ammunition. The men were taken to the Couva Police Station where further traces were being conducted.
