A 25-year-old man was shot dead on Sunday night at Cedar Road, North Eastern Settlement in Sangre Grande. Anthony Robert Gill, of Bazillon Street, Sangre Grande, died on the spot after he was shot several times. His death pushed the murder toll to 137, up to late yesterday. A report said around 10 pm, relatives heard several loud explosions. They checked and found Gill lying on the roadway. ASP Neville Sankar, acting inspectors Doodhai and Paul and other officers from the Sangre Grande CID and Homicide Bureau responded. Detectives said Gill was stabbed several months ago during a botched robbery and a gold chain he usually wore was not found around his neck. They said Gill’s death was possibly gang-related. Homicide officers are continuing investigations.
