Education Facilities Company (EFCL) chairman Ronald Phillip says, in an interview with the T&T Guardian yesterday, he expects to be appointed chief executive officer of the National Flour Mills (NFM), Phillip confirmed he was among five people who were shortlisted for the job and was tipped to be the successful candidate. "I was interviewed and at the end of it I scored the highest and I was given the nod," Phillip said. "My understanding is that the board categorically gave me the majority support," he added.
He said he was concerned about a reported move by Trade and Industry Minister Stephen Cadiz to meet with the NFM board this week to discuss the CEO appointment. He said he did not understand why a minister would want to intervene in the process. "If the outcome is that I do not get it, then somebody will have to tell me why," he said. Phillip said the PP Government had campaigned against corruption. He said he was not engaged in corruption and if anyone had evidence of corruption he should make it public.
