A Chaguanas woman remained hospitalised as police continued to search for the man who raped and chopped her on Monday. Around 2.30 am on May 14, the 31-year-old caterer left her workplace in Chaguanas with a man she knew and her two friends. The woman told police she knew the man because he was accustomed liming at the bar.
The man reportedly dropped off the woman's friends at Montrose Main Road, near KFC, and promised to take the woman home. She said she later awoke in an area unknown to her and was raped by the man, who attempted to chop her. As she struggled to escape her attacker, she was severely chopped across the left hand.
She managed to jump out of the car and made her way to the Chaguanas Police Station where she filed a report and was taken for medical attention. Up to yesterday, officers were hunting for the suspect, who is said to be of East Indian descent.
WPC Elcock is continuing inquiries.
