A Beetham man ar­rest­ed dur­ing Tues­day's protest at Harpe Place, Port-of-Spain plead­ed not guilty to re­sist­ing ar­rest and us­ing an­noy­ing lan­guage when he ap­peared in court on Fri­day. Jonathon Moore, 29, of Basilon Street, Laven­tille, was not called up­on to plead to a third charge of as­sault­ing three po­lice of­fi­cers dur­ing the in­ci­dent.

Moore ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Chris­tine Charles in the Port-of-Spain Fifth Mag­is­trates' Court. He was charged by Cpl Charles Bu­drie of the Besson Street sta­tion. The mag­is­trate heard that around 4 pm on May 15, Moore as­sault­ed PCs Matthew Ramirez, Joseph Gomez and Yohann Sealey as he re­sist­ed ar­rest and used an­noy­ing lan­guage dur­ing the protest.

In­di­cat­ing to Charles his in­ten­tion to se­cure a lawyer be­fore the next ad­journed date, Moore who had been grant­ed sta­tion bail on Tues­day, re­quest­ed copies of the sta­tion di­ary ex­tracts for his in­tend­ed at­tor­ney. Moore will reap­pear on June 28.
