The search con­tin­ued yes­ter­day for a sus­pect who shot at po­lice in Ch­agua­nas on Thurs­day af­ter they at­tempt­ed to de­tain him in con­nec­tion with sev­er­al mat­ters in­clud­ing rape and rob­bery. Around 4.30 pm, Sgt Jobe, Cpl Ali and PCs Au­gus­tus, Clarence, Ran­jits­ingh and Ba­boolal went to K & K Mi­ni Mart, To­ba­go Road Ex­ten­sion, En­ter­prise and ob­served Mar­lon Phillip stand­ing in his front yard.

As of­fi­cers called out to Phillip, he is re­port­ed to have fired sev­er­al shots at of­fi­cers and ran off. Of­fi­cers lat­er de­tained two oth­er men at the gro­cery want­ed in con­nec­tion with re­ports of rape in the area. In­sp Lawrence of the Ch­agua­nas CID is con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
