Po­lice ex­er­cis­es in Port-of-Spain and the North­ern Di­vi­sion over the week­end re­sult­ed in 12 peo­ple be­ing ar­rest­ed and one ki­lo of mar­i­jua­na be­ing re­cov­ered along with one gun and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion. Be­tween 2 am and 6 am yes­ter­day, an ex­er­cise co-or­di­nat­ed by ACP Ter­ry Young in the Mal­oney area, led to eight peo­ple be­ing ar­rest­ed af­ter they were held with one ki­lo of mar­i­jua­na. Of­fi­cers, in­clud­ing In­sp Seecha­ran and Cpl Mas­call, al­so raid­ed sev­er­al homes. From 7 pm on Sat­ur­day and mid­day on Sun­day, a com­bined an­ti-crime ex­er­cise by mem­bers of the De­fence Force, the IATF, CID, GEB and the Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Op­er­a­tional Cen­tre went to the Nel­son Street, Man­go Rose and Bev­er­ly Hills ar­eas. Four peo­ple were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with shoot­ings in Port-of-Spain and Laven­tille. Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, which in­clud­ed de­tailed search­es of the HDC apart­ment build­ings, of­fi­cers re­cov­ered 18 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion and ten rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion hid­den in­side an elec­tri­cal box at one of the build­ings at Man­go Rose. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, IATF head, Snr Supt Carl­ton Al­leyne and Ma­jor Singh of the De­fence Force went to an aban­doned house at Bev­er­ly Hills and re­cov­ered one 12-gauge pump ac­tion shot­gun, along with ten 12-gauge car­tridges and 61 rounds of 7.62 am­mu­ni­tion.
