Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has expressed shock and sadness at the news of the devastating vehicular accident which left four people dead and acting Chief Justice Wendell Kangaloo in critical condition. In a release from the Prime Minister's Office, Persad-Bissessar said: "I am profoundly saddened by the news. I express my condolences to and sympathies with the families of those who have lost their lives. I also pray for the quick recovery of Justice Kangaloo," she said.
The Prime Minister also said the accident brings into focus "the absolute need for greater care and caution on the roads, as just one moment of indiscretion can create immense danger and cause the fatality of innocent citizens. "In an instant the peace and happiness of a number of families has been thrown into chaos. The Government will continue to pursue its responsibility to citizens by implementing strong measures to curb road accidents, but citizens must also take responsibility for each other," she said.
