A 36-year-old labour­er who was shot and robbed of his gold chain in Mara­bel­la on Sat­ur­day re­mains in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Po­lice are search­ing for the man who shot Mar­lon Alexan­der, of Mon Re­pos, and by­stander Ri­car­do Glas­gow, 24, of San­gre Grande, at around 5 am on the South­ern Main Road.

Eye­wit­ness­es said Alexan­der was stand­ing out­side a sports bar when he was ac­cost­ed by a man armed with a gun. Alexan­der ran a short dis­tance be­fore he was shot twice in the back. Po­lice said the gun­man lift­ed Alexan­der off the ground and shot him in the ab­domen, then snatched his gold chain and fled. Glas­gow, who was stand­ing near­by, was hit on his right el­bow by a stray bul­let. He is ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.
