The Gov­ern­ment will spend close to $13 mil­lion in an ef­fort to de­vel­op Ari­api­ta Av­enue, Wood­brook, in­to a must-see tourist lo­ca­tion. This was re­vealed by Min­is­ter of Tourism Dr Ru­pert Grif­fith, who added that the plan would take about three years to com­plete. He said some of the plans for the new look in­clud­ed the plant­i­ng of trees, prop­er signs and food courts.

Grif­fith was speak­ing at the 32nd Mul­ti­ple Dis­trict Con­ven­tion of Li­ons In­ter­na­tion­al at the Hy­att Re­gency, Port-of-Spain, on Wednes­day af­ter­noon. He said the food ven­dors who ser­viced the area would be in­cor­po­rat­ed in­to the plan, but hint­ed that there might be some new play­ers in that are­na as well. At this stage, he said, there were still sev­er­al dis­cus­sions to be held with var­i­ous stake­hold­ers. "It is go­ing to be a beau­ti­fi­ca­tion of the area," he said.
