Al­most three weeks af­ter he wrote to the Po­lice Ser­vice Com­mis­sion (PSC) say­ing he re­fused to sign his per­for­mance ap­praisal be­cause it was se­ri­ous­ly flawed, Deputy Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Jack Ewats­ki is yet to re­ceive a re­sponse from the com­mis­sion.

Ewats­ki, who out­lined the rea­sons for his re­fusal in a six-page let­ter, dat­ed Feb­ru­ary 29, 2012, wrote: "My re­fusal to sign the ap­praisal was root­ed in my be­lief that the process used to eval­u­ate my per­for­mance was se­ri­ous­ly flawed, ren­der­ing the re­sults in­valid."

When con­tact­ed yes­ter­day Ewats­ki said he was still await­ing a re­sponse from the com­mis­sion to is­sues raised in the let­ter. He said he re­ceived a let­ter from the com­mis­sion ac­knowl­edg­ing his let­ter. Say­ing he was com­mit­ted to en­hanc­ing the Po­lice Ser­vice, Ewats­ki added he had al­ways been com­mit­ted to work­ing with the com­mis­sion.

Prof Ramesh De­osaran could not be reached for com­ment yes­ter­day as the T&T Guardian was told he was en­gaged in all-day meet­ings.
