Bandits chop ‘Point’ dad
A Point Fortin father survived several chops to the head when armed bandits stormed into his house and robbed him of an estimated $12,000 in electronics on Friday. Anthony Rodriguez, of Main Road, Cap-de-ville, received several stitches to the back and head after bandits dealt him multiple blows with a cutlass and threatened to kill him.
According to reports, around 12.25 pm, 56-year-old Rodriguez was at home with his 36-year-old son Anderson Rodriguez, when two men, one of whom was armed with a cutlass, entered their home. Reluctant to release his valuables, Rodriguez fought with the armed assailant who chopped him about the back and head. The suspects then robbed them of an Apple laptop valued $6,000, one XBox home entertainment system worth $2,000 and a Blackberry Torch smartphone valued $4,000.
The men then escaped on foot and remained at large up to late yesterday. The police were called in and both victims were taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital where they were treated and discharged. Inquiries are continuing.
