A Princes Town man who stole 17 bottles of beer and five bottles of an energy beverage to satisfy his alcohol addiction was jailed yesterday for three years. Regan Fairley, 30, told Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan he planned to drink all the stolen beverages. "When I drink all the beers I will feel sick so then I will drink the Lucozade. I drink anything puncheon, bay rum, anything," he said. Fairley pleaded guilty to breaking into Green Arrows Recreation Club, Mon Stewart Village, Princes Town, on May 23.
He stole ten bottles of of Stag beer, seven bottles of Carib beer, four bottles of Lucozade and one bottle of Gatorade, totalling $212. Presenting the facts in the San Fernando First Magistrate Court yesterday, police prosecutor Ramdath Phillip said Videsh Beepath saw him climbing out of a window, holding a crocus bag. He raised an alarm and Fairley was chased and held a short distance away. He was then handed over to the police and charged by PC Boodoo. The stolen loot was recovered.
