The Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion is start­ing to crack­down on busi­ness­men who are il­le­gal­ly oc­cu­py­ing parts of En­deav­or Road and Chan Ram­lal Road. Ch­agua­nas may­or Or­lan­do Nages­sar said yes­ter­day the bor­ough has start­ed re­claim­ing lands at Ram­saran Street. He said busi­ness­men had blocked parts of Ram­saran Street and had erect­ed signs and even paved the road­way for park­ing pur­pos­es.

The may­or said the bor­ough re­cent­ly sur­veyed the area and start­ed build­ing pave­ments and drains as part of the ini­tial plan to ex­pand Ram­saran Street in­to a boule­vard. Nages­sar said with traf­fic con­ges­tion grow­ing in the busy cen­tral bor­ough he had no al­ter­na­tive but to im­pose harsh mea­sures.

May­or Nages­sar said some busi­ness­men have gone as far as us­ing Chan Ram­lal Road as a pri­vate car park. He said af­ter the sur­veys are com­plet­ed, the il­le­gal car parks would be de­mol­ished. Nages­sar said a round­about was planned at the west­ern end of En­deav­our Road in a bid to ease the traf­fic flow­ing from Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road to Lange Park.
