Four sus­pects were ar­rest­ed by the po­lice af­ter a rob­bery at Fur­ness Build­ing, cor­ner of In­de­pen­dence Square and Wright­son Road, Port-of-Spain, last night. Po­lice said around 6.30 pm, the sus­pects, all from the Beetham com­mu­ni­ty, broke a glass at the en­trance of the trav­el agency and went in­to the build­ing. Staff mem­bers in the build­ing were held up and hog-tied, while the men ran­sacked the place, po­lice said.

The sus­pects then took a quan­ti­ty of cash and valu­ables from them. Passers-by and mo­torists who saw the com­mo­tion while the rob­bers were break­ing the glass im­me­di­ate­ly no­ti­fied the po­lice. Of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Po­lice Sta­tion re­spond­ed and caught the thieves while they were on their way out of the premis­es. They were tak­en to the sta­tion where they were be­ing ques­tioned up to late yes­ter­day evening. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
