Ne­fi­ta Awai, whose bul­let-rid­dled body was found in a car at Mara­cas Bay on Mon­day morn­ing, will be buried to­mor­row. Even as her rel­a­tives con­tin­ued to de­mand jus­tice yes­ter­day, in­ves­ti­ga­tors said they were pur­su­ing sev­er­al leads in an at­tempt to find the peo­ple who shot Awai and left her com­mon-law hus­band, Adri­an Fran­cois, hos­pi­talised.

The T&T Guardian learned up to yes­ter­day, Fran­cois was in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Awai's body was dis­cov­ered around 12.40 am on Mon­day, slumped in the pas­sen­ger seat of a car that had been parked near a precipice along the North Coast Road.

Fran­cois was found ly­ing, with gun­shot wounds about the body, sev­er­al feet away. They lived at Ceme­tery Street, Diego Mar­tin. Mean­while, Brent Quam­i­na, of Rich­plain Road, Diego Mar­tin, who was shot in a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent at Mara­cas around 12.30 am on Mon­day, al­so re­mained in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion at hos­pi­tal yes­ter­day. Awai's fu­ner­al will take place at 10 am at the Di­vine Des­tiny Church, Covi­gne Road, Diego Mar­tin.
