Nefita Awai, whose bullet-riddled body was found in a car at Maracas Bay on Monday morning, will be buried tomorrow. Even as her relatives continued to demand justice yesterday, investigators said they were pursuing several leads in an attempt to find the people who shot Awai and left her common-law husband, Adrian Francois, hospitalised.
The T&T Guardian learned up to yesterday, Francois was in a critical condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Awai's body was discovered around 12.40 am on Monday, slumped in the passenger seat of a car that had been parked near a precipice along the North Coast Road.
Francois was found lying, with gunshot wounds about the body, several feet away. They lived at Cemetery Street, Diego Martin. Meanwhile, Brent Quamina, of Richplain Road, Diego Martin, who was shot in a separate incident at Maracas around 12.30 am on Monday, also remained in a critical condition at hospital yesterday. Awai's funeral will take place at 10 am at the Divine Destiny Church, Covigne Road, Diego Martin.
