Dr Hollis R Lynch, Tobagonian and owner of the Richmond Great House, Belle Garden, Tobago and Prof Emeritus of History, Columbia University, New York has published a book-K O Mbadiwe: A Nigerian Political Biography, 1915-1990. The book is published by Palgrave Macmillan.
An American educated Igbo with degrees from Columbia and New York universities, Mbadiwe became, from 1948, a central figure as nationalist, politician, legislator and statesman in Nigeria. Mbadiwe was perhaps Nigeria's greatest booster; certainly he worked assiduously, though not always successfully to set Africa's most populous nation on the path to greatness.
Lynch's book has been praised by one reviewer Dr Moses E Ochonu. According to Ochonu, "One of the strengths of this book is its comprehensiveness-the sheer breadth of its coverage of Mbadiwe's storied life as a politician, philosopher, social critic, nationalist, pan-Africanist and writer. It is a remarkable work of modern Nigerian history, written through the momentous life of one of the architects of the modern Nigerian state."
