Chaguanas Mayor Orlando Nagessar wants Attorney General (AG) Anand Ramlogan to include clauses to control stray dogs in the Dangerous Dogs Bill. He said stray dogs have become, "a very, very serious social and health issue in the country, and the borough of Chaguanas is no exception.
"It seems that some people drop stray dogs in the area. One of the issues facing the local-government system is the need to have on its payroll a highly-qualified veterinarian in each local-government institution." Nagessar said the borough's attempts to control the stray-dog population continue unabated.
"However, these dogs seem to have an extra sense when they see the cart coming for them. They immediately scamper away." Nagessar said the AG's decision to revisit the existing legislation demonstrates "democracy in action."
