Twin brothers, Marlon and Melvin Phillip, along with another man, were denied bail yesterday when they appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate charged with seven offences, including rape and kidnapping. The Phillip brothers, 34, and Nicolas Bowen, all of Enterprise, appeared before First Court Magistrate Gillian Scotland charged with the indictable offences. The twins are charged jointly with breaking and entering into a house in Enterprise on June 9, 2012 and sexually assaulting a woman. They also are charged with robbing a man of a flat screen television and using personal violence.

Melvin is charged separately with robbing a woman of a bank card and a quantity of cash and using personal violence against her. He allegedly committed the offences on January 17, 2012 together with another person. He is also charged with unlawfully taking the woman and carrying her away and sexually assaulting her. The three men are jointly charged with having a firearm and ammunition in their possession without a firearm user’s licence. They also are charged with having a firearm and ammunition in their possession with intent to endanger life at Tobago Road, Enterprise. The men were also charged with shooting at police with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Scotland refused the men bail as they had other matters. They will reappear in court on July 9.
