Po­lice of­fi­cers were up to yes­ter­day search­ing for a Bel­mont woman in con­nec­tion with a foe­tus found in a drain on Thurs­day. Around 1.45 pm on June 14, of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau were con­tact­ed by res­i­dents of Gon­za­les Cir­cu­lar Road about a foe­tus found float­ing in a near­by drain.

Of­fi­cers from the Bel­mont Po­lice Sta­tion re­spond­ed and found the foe­tus which was al­ready said to be in an ad­vanced state of de­com­po­si­tion. The dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer vis­it­ed and or­dered its re­moval to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James. Se­nior of­fi­cials said the foe­tus was re­moved to the mor­tu­ary of the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ued to find its moth­er it is be­lieved comes from the Bel­mont area.
