Police officers were up to yesterday searching for a Belmont woman in connection with a foetus found in a drain on Thursday. Around 1.45 pm on June 14, officers of the Homicide Bureau were contacted by residents of Gonzales Circular Road about a foetus found floating in a nearby drain.

Officers from the Belmont Police Station responded and found the foetus which was already said to be in an advanced state of decomposition. The district medical officer visited and ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre, St James. Senior officials said the foetus was removed to the mortuary of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital as investigations continued to find its mother it is believed comes from the Belmont area.

Anyone with information about this matter can contact the Belmont Police Station at 621-2514/2505.
