A Longdenville man is warded in a serious but stable condition at hospital after he was beaten and shot near his home yesterday morning. Police are yet to apprehend any suspects but said that an arrest is imminent. Reports stated that around 12.50 am, 25-year-old Fitzroy Edwards of Flemming Street, was standing on the pavement outside his house.

While there, a red Toyota Corolla car pulled up and three men, whom he knew, emerged from the vehicle. After a short conversation, the men began to beat Edwards about his face and then shot him in his ankle. The suspects then escaped in their vehicle. Edwards was taken to Chaguanas Health Centre and was later transferred to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex at Mt Hope. Investigations are continuing.
