A Long­denville man is ward­ed in a se­ri­ous but sta­ble con­di­tion at hos­pi­tal af­ter he was beat­en and shot near his home yes­ter­day morn­ing. Po­lice are yet to ap­pre­hend any sus­pects but said that an ar­rest is im­mi­nent. Re­ports stat­ed that around 12.50 am, 25-year-old Fitzroy Ed­wards of Flem­ming Street, was stand­ing on the pave­ment out­side his house.

While there, a red Toy­ota Corol­la car pulled up and three men, whom he knew, emerged from the ve­hi­cle. Af­ter a short con­ver­sa­tion, the men be­gan to beat Ed­wards about his face and then shot him in his an­kle. The sus­pects then es­caped in their ve­hi­cle. Ed­wards was tak­en to Ch­agua­nas Health Cen­tre and was lat­er trans­ferred to Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex at Mt Hope. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
