A fa­ther's role as a care­giv­er and equal part­ner in par­ent­ing is of­ten over­looked. Fa­thers, like moth­ers, are hu­man be­ings ca­pa­ble of love, af­fec­tion, care and nur­tur­ing. This, ac­cord­ing to the non-prof­it or­gan­i­sa­tion Ran­dom Acts of Good Deeds (RAGD). RAGD was found­ed in 2010 by Niki­ta Mo­hans­ingh for chil­dren to serve chil­dren as a ve­hi­cle for im­prov­ing qual­i­ty of life through com­mu­ni­ty projects.

To raise aware­ness about fa­thers and fa­ther­hood, chil­dren wrote "Ran­dom Love Let­ters to Dad" which were dis­trib­uted at Price Plaza, Ch­agua­nas, yes­ter­day. Mo­hans­ingh said the project was done to raise the con­scious­ness of fa­ther­hood and to cel­e­brate fa­thers in T&T. The let­ters were writ­ten by chil­dren in the or­gan­i­sa­tion, men­tors and in­vit­ed par­tic­i­pants.

Mo­hans­ingh said a sim­i­lar ini­tia­tive was done for Moth­er's Day last month when let­ters were giv­en to moth­ers along the East-West Cor­ri­dor. A state­ment from the or­gan­i­sa­tion stat­ed, "Our or­gan­i­sa­tion aims to en­gen­der a sense of good cit­i­zen­ship, re­spon­si­bil­i­ty, com­pas­sion and re­spect in its young mem­bers, adding val­ue to their lives by guid­ing them to adopt uni­ver­sal val­ues and male good life choic­es." Mo­hans­ingh said close to 300 let­ters were ex­pect­ed to be dis­trib­uted by ap­proach­ing a male and ask­ing him whether he was a fa­ther.
