A Ch­agua­nas man was yes­ter­day re­mand­ed in cus­tody by a Port-of-Spain mag­is­trate to next Mon­day when he will ap­pear be­fore a cen­tral mag­is­trate charged with fraud. Lar­ry Ti­warie, 31, of Long­denville, was not called up­on to plead when he ap­peared be­fore mag­is­trate Mar­cia Mur­ray in the Port-of-Spain First Court. Ti­warie is charged with at­tempt­ing to cash a cheque in the amount of $458,737 be­tween June 20 and June 25, at the First Cit­i­zens Bank, Ch­agua­nas. He is ac­cused of at­tempt­ing to ob­tain the amount by way of a cheque au­tho­rised by the San­gre Grande Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion pre­tend­ing that it was a good and valid or­der to is­sue him the mon­ey. Ti­warie was ar­rest­ed on Mon­day and af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tions by the Fraud Squad was charged yes­ter­day by Sgt Damien Thomas. De­clin­ing to set bail yes­ter­day, Mur­ray ad­journed the mat­ter to Ju­ly 2 trans­fer­ring it to the Ch­agua­nas Mag­is­trates' Court.
