State attorney George Busby has been appointed to prosecute Science and Technology Minister Dr Rupert Griffith who faces a charge of using annoying language. The matter was called for a second time yesterday before Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan in the Port-of-Spain Eighth Court.
Shortly after the matter was adjourned to August 6, Busby entered the court and said he had been appointed to conduct the prosecution's case. Griffith, who is being represented by attorney Om Lalla, has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The charge was laid by PC Larry Joefield of the Port-of-Spain Traffic Branch. The charge against him stemmed from an alleged incident outside the Hyatt Regency, Port-of-Spain, on May 8.
