The murder toll yesterday rose to 207 with the killing of a 29-year-old man in Laventille. Around 2 am, Marvin Jordon, of New City Avenue, Fyzabad, was asleep at his girlfriend's home on Kerr Road, Eastern Quarry, Laventille, when they were awakened by two masked intruders.
The men reportedly pointed guns at them and ordered Jordon to leave the house with them. Officers of the Besson Street CID were contacted and a search was conducted. Four hours later, after another search, Jordon's bullet-riddled body was found lying in a large drain near his girlfriend's home. Investigators yesterday were left puzzled by Jordon's murder, since he was not known to be involved in criminal and gang activities.
He was said to have moved to Laventille recently to be closer to his girlfriend, police said. Up to late yesterday homicide detectives had not established a motive for his murder. ASP Ajith Persad, Inspector Sahadeo Singh and Cpls Charles Budrie and Donavon Thompson visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
