The first of sev­er­al free med­ical clin­ics in the San Fer­nan­do West con­stituen­cy was held at Bayshore Sport­ing Com­plex, Mara­bel­la, on Sat­ur­day. Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion Min­is­ter and MP for the area, Car­olyn Seep­er­sad-Bachan, who or­gan­ised the clin­ics, in a state­ment as said: "Over the past year, many con­stituents told me they want­ed med­ical help for them­selves and their chil­dren."

Seep­er­sad-Bachan said she got sup­port from sev­er­al sources, in­clud­ing the Na­tion­al Al­co­hol and Drug Abuse Pre­ven­tion Pro­gramme (NADAPP) and the Min­istry of Health. The re­lease said more than 700 men, women and chil­dren were at­tend­ed to. The clin­ic of­fered blood-pres­sure and blood-sug­ar test­ing, breast ex­am­i­na­tions, Pap smear tests and den­tal check-ups.
