Cou­va North MP Ra­mona Ram­di­al has promised to get rid of stray an­i­mals roam­ing near the site of the Tem­ple in the Sea at Wa­ter­loo. Ram­di­al said so as she and Tourism Min­is­ter Stephen Cadiz vis­it­ed sev­er­al at­trac­tions in cen­tral Trinidad to ex­plore tourism in the area.

Ram­di­al said dog­catch­ers had been called in from the Princes Town Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion to help re­move stray an­i­mals, which had been an eye­sore to vis­i­tors to the his­toric site. Cadiz said his min­istry hoped to mar­ket cen­tral Trinidad in a tour pack­age which in­clud­ed her­itage sites and eco­tourism.

He said he want­ed to get the Ex­change Shiv Mandir de­clared a her­itage site and would be seek­ing to part­ner with var­i­ous or­gan­i­sa­tions to make the site more at­trac­tive to vis­i­tors. The min­is­ter said he al­so planned to work with the var­i­ous com­mu­ni­ties to make sure the project hap­pened. Cadiz said he was op­ti­mistic that the var­i­ous sites would be in a mar­ketable state in the near fu­ture.
