A 38-year-old contractor was killed in a shooting in Malick, Barataria, on Friday night. According to police reports, around 9.15 pm, Lincoln Ammon, of Mason Hall, Tobago, was driving his Hyundai pick-up along Seventh Avenue, when residents reported hearing a volley of gunshots. Ammon reportedly stopped his vehicle, got out and collapsed in a nearby drain.
He was found by investigators a short while later with bullet wounds to the chest and abdomen. Bullet holes were found in the front passenger door of Ammon's vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a district medical officer. Homicide detectives were yesterday said to be puzzled by Ammon's killing as he was not known to police to be involved in criminal activity.
ASP Mahabir and Sgt Aslim Hosein of the Barataria CID are investigating. An autopsy is expected to be conducted on Ammon's body today at the Forensic Science Centre in St James. The murder toll stood at 222 up to late yesterday afternoon.
