A police constable, with 13 years’ service, was not called upon to plea to charges of robbery and misbehaviour in public office when he appeared in court yesterday.  PC Lindon Nelson, of the Inter Agency Task Force, appeared before Magistrate Melvin Daniel in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Court yesterday. He was charged by Sgt Michael Veronique of the Police Service Professional Standards Bureau.

Nelson, of Mission Road, Freeport, is alleged to have robbed a businessman on July 11 of 14 cases of vodka, valued at $14,000, and kidnapped three people. He was arrested last Friday and charged over the weekend. Daniel granted Nelson $15,000 bail with surety to be approved by a clerk of the peace. He will reappear in court on August 13.
