Two Trinidad and Tobago nationals, Rhonda Gregoire-Roopchan and Bobbie Janelle Jeffrey-Hicks, are the latest local scholars to bring international academic recognition to their country. Gregoire-Roopchan and Jeffrey-Hicks were recently announced as the winners of the  2011 London Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s gold and silver medallions in Advertising-Level 3, and Public Relations-Level 3 respectively.

Both scholars received their LCCI medallions and certificates from Chief Education Officer (Ag) Harrylal Seecharan during a ceremony at the Ministry of Education’s Head Office, St Clair last Wednesday. Seecharan praised them for their remarkable achievements while revealing that this was not the first time T&T students have performed superbly at the LCCI exams.

“I take immense pleasure in the fact that for three consecutive years, students of this country have excelled at these exams, scoring among the world’s top students which is indeed a tremendous feat given that there are over 250,000 students sitting these examinations in a variety of fields globally, from 120 countries,”  he said.

Gregoire-Roopchan wrote the LCCI exams at Sital College, while Jeffrey-Hicks sat at the Institute of Training and Development (INTAD). Also present at the presentation ceremony were CXC Local Registrar Laloo Hart, officials from the ministry’s Examinations Division, and Sital College representative Nikeisha Fernandez-Cordner. T&T was among only 21 nations that received the 2011 LCCI exam awards.
