Con­gress of the Peo­ple mem­ber Nali­ni Di­al has re­signed from the board of the Sol­id Waste Man­age­ment Com­pa­ny Ltd (SWM­COL). Di­al's res­ig­na­tion took ef­fect on Ju­ly 9. She was ap­point­ed to the board on March 3, 2011. Di­al, by let­ter, said she had served for 15 months with the high­est lev­el of in­tegri­ty and fair­ness, and did not take her de­ci­sion to re­sign light­ly. Di­al ex­plained that she ob­ject­ed to the ap­point­ment of di­rec­tor Shi­va Hardit Singh to the post of CEO, in which po­si­tion she had been act­ing for eight months. She said as a mem­ber of the COP it would com­pro­mise her own in­tegri­ty and would be hyp­o­crit­i­cal on her part to op­pose Singh's ap­point­ment, yet re­tain her po­si­tion as a di­rec­tor.
