A 30-year-old truck dri­ver was shot dead yes­ter­day af­ter­noon as he changed a tyre in Cara­po, Ari­ma. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice around 3.25 pm, Mar­vin Au­guste, of Man­tis Lane, La Hor­quet­ta, was stand­ing in front of a tyre shop at the cor­ner of Kel­ly Trace and O'Meara Road South, Cara­po, when he was ap­proached by a gun­man. The man re­port­ed­ly drew a pis­tol and shot Au­guste three times in the head be­fore es­cap­ing through a near­by track.

Homi­cide de­tec­tives, who vis­it­ed the scene, said Au­guste did not have a crim­i­nal record and was not known to them. Po­lice are yet to es­tab­lish a mo­tive for the mur­der. A fe­male rel­a­tive, who wished to re­main uniden­ti­fied, said he in­tend­ed to mar­ry lat­er this year and was sav­ing mon­ey to build a house. The mur­der toll stood at 236 up to late yes­ter­day evening. Su­per­in­ten­dent Garth Nel­son, In­sp Wayne Bap­tise and Sgt Gan­ga Singh are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
