Chaos erupted in Chaguanas on Saturday evening, as a man with a chainsaw went on a rampage, cutting down the fence to a bar and attacking the owner. Bar owner Hakeem Mohammed, who attempted to stop the out-of-control man, was cut on the right hand as he tried to ward off attempts to cut his neck. He had to seek medical attention for the wound.

At around 3 pm on Saturday, limers outside WI Crew Bar at Marie Trace, Chaguanas,  a man started sawing the wooden fence around the bar into pieces. Customers said as he cut his way through, he approached them menacingly and they scampered away and alerted Mohammed.

Mohammed, 51, said problems started when a limer at a nearby bar was asked to park his car properly. The man took out a chainsaw from the trunk of his vehicle and brandished it at Mohammed. Mohammed suffered injuries to his hand in the incident. Police were quickly on the scene and arrested the man. He was charged by PC Villafana of the Chaguanas Municipal Police for malicious wounding. The 43-year-old man, of Couva, is expected to appear before a Chaguanas magistrate today.
