The Special Reserve Police (SRP) officer charged with attempted murder will return to court on December 14. When Bryan Chadband reappeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor in the Port-of-Spain Fifth Court yesterday, the complainant was absent. Prosecutor Sgt Anderson Gonzales informed the court that the complainant had reported ill and was also on vacation until August 18.
Requesting an adjournment date after the officer's return, the magistrate decided on the December date when the prosecution is expected to disclose all material to the defence. Chadband is charged with the attempted murder of a close female relative during an altercation on July 1, in Diego Martin. Following the incident, Chadband drank a poisonous substance in an attempt to kill himself. Chadband has since been suspended from active duty.
