Filipino employed with Nipdec reported missing
A search is on for a foreigner employed with the National Insurance Property Development Co Ltd (Nipdec) who was reported missing last week. Project manager Bernard Capuno was last seen on August 2, leaving his apartment at Siwala Street, Curepe. Capuno, 37, a Filipino national was reported missing by neighbours after he failed to return home from work. St Joseph police yesterday confirmed that a missing person’s report had been filed.
The T&T Guardian learnt that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) is aware of the matter and was investigating the disappearance. Up to yesterday, there was no information leading to Capuno's whereabouts and his cellphone remains switched off. Capuno was seen leaving his apartment last Thursday, wearing a brown jersey bearing a Nipdeec logo, black pants and black shoes. Neighbours told police they believe Capuno had been on his way to work.
Police said Capuno’s Mitsubishi Galant car was also missing. Although they have not ruled out foul play, police were unwilling to speculate about the disappearance as they do not have any evidence to suggest Capuno was kidnapped. PC Riley, of the St Joseph Police Station, is continuing inquiries.
