The funeral service of senior pastor of the Faith Assembly International Church, Parkash Bachew, will be held today from 2-4 pm, at the church at Five Rivers Junction, Arouca. He will be laid to rest at the Crown Street cemetery and his family and members of the church will hold a vigil candlelight ceremony at the church later this evening. Bachew, fondly called Pastor KK, died on Sunday at the St Clair Medical Centre, where he was warded after suffering a massive stroke on August 3. The 63-year-old pastor was leading a military funeral service at his church when his speech began to falter. He subsequently collapsed and was taken to the St Augustine Medical Complex, and was later transferred to St Clair for emergency surgery. Bachew's son Pastor Paul Bachew said: "Daddy went quickly to be with the Lord and doctors said he felt no pain and he went exactly how he would have wanted to." Bachew was the husband of Roma Bachew, father of eight-Paul, Jason, Joel, Candice, Jonathan, Anna, Israel and Timothy-and grandfather of ten. According to his congregation, he was: "A man after God's own heart, a compassionate soul, full of humility and selflessness. He was a true leader with a drive to help people, he was truly a man of the people. A man of vision and missions."
