The fu­ner­al ser­vice of se­nior pas­tor of the Faith As­sem­bly In­ter­na­tion­al Church, Parkash Bachew, will be held to­day from 2-4 pm, at the church at Five Rivers Junc­tion, Arou­ca. He will be laid to rest at the Crown Street ceme­tery and his fam­i­ly and mem­bers of the church will hold a vig­il can­dle­light cer­e­mo­ny at the church lat­er this evening. Bachew, fond­ly called Pas­tor KK, died on Sun­day at the St Clair Med­ical Cen­tre, where he was ward­ed af­ter suf­fer­ing a mas­sive stroke on Au­gust 3. The 63-year-old pas­tor was lead­ing a mil­i­tary fu­ner­al ser­vice at his church when his speech be­gan to fal­ter. He sub­se­quent­ly col­lapsed and was tak­en to the St Au­gus­tine Med­ical Com­plex, and was lat­er trans­ferred to St Clair for emer­gency surgery. Bachew's son Pas­tor Paul Bachew said: "Dad­dy went quick­ly to be with the Lord and doc­tors said he felt no pain and he went ex­act­ly how he would have want­ed to." Bachew was the hus­band of Ro­ma Bachew, fa­ther of eight-Paul, Ja­son, Joel, Can­dice, Jonathan, An­na, Is­rael and Tim­o­thy-and grand­fa­ther of ten. Ac­cord­ing to his con­gre­ga­tion, he was: "A man af­ter God's own heart, a com­pas­sion­ate soul, full of hu­mil­i­ty and self­less­ness. He was a true leader with a dri­ve to help peo­ple, he was tru­ly a man of the peo­ple. A man of vi­sion and mis­sions."
