The daughter of former president of T&T Arthur NR Robinson, Ann Margaret as she left the St Clair Medical Centre, Port-of-Spain, yesterday told the T&T Guardian: "He's doing good but won't be discharged today." When pressed for further comment, however, she said she was late for a meeting and so could not speak to the media.
But Robinson's secretary, Claire Raphael, said yesterday he may be out of St Clair Medical Hospital by the weekend. Raphael said Robinson was stable and doctors were conducting tests. It was expected that he may have been released yesterday morning. She did not say what the particular medical condition was that required his hospitalisation. The former PM however has had several visitors since being hospitalised.
They included former staff and colleagues. Minister of National Security Jack Warner also visited on Tuesday. The country's third president was hospitalised in February 2010 and has suffered from high blood pressure and glaucoma. PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who was in Jamaica, expressed her concern after hearing of his hospitalisation and Warner pledged Government would do all that was necessary to help in his recovery.
