In celebration of its employees, Hyatt Regency Trinidad hosted a week of fun activities and events geared towards recognising and showcasing its appreciation to its staff. As a global initiative by Hyatt Hotels Corporation, all hotels and resorts participated in the annual event titled Celebrating Our People Week during June 18 to 23. Each hotel was paired with another Hyatt hotel and for 2012, Hyatt Regency Jinan (China) was partnered with Hyatt Regency Trinidad.
The week at the hotel kicked-off on June 18 with the "Hyatt Olympics," where associates were grouped into teams competing against each other in a number of activities. To pay tribute to its sister hotel in China, Hyatt Regency Trinidad hosted a Jinan Day on June 20 where associates had the opportunity to enjoy some traditional Chinese cuisine, music and dance.
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China donated books and DVDs on China's history, craft, architecture, folklore and medicine to the hotel, as well as members of the Chinese Arts and Culture Studies Society paraded for the staff with their portrayal of the lion dance.
On June 21, as part of the Hyatt Global Volunteer Initiative, where giving back to the community is a fundamental aspect of the hotel's culture, associates outfitted with brooms, mops and scrubbing brushes spent the afternoon at Kids in Need of Direction (Kind), a school dedicated to providing educational, nutritional, medical, emotional and vocational assistance to disadvantaged children since 1998, for a clean-up drive. Volunteers from a variety of departments, cleaned and organised the school's storeroom, library, computer rooms, classrooms and public areas, in collaboration with the children and teachers.
