In cel­e­bra­tion of its em­ploy­ees, Hy­att Re­gency Trinidad host­ed a week of fun ac­tiv­i­ties and events geared to­wards recog­nis­ing and show­cas­ing its ap­pre­ci­a­tion to its staff. As a glob­al ini­tia­tive by Hy­att Ho­tels Cor­po­ra­tion, all ho­tels and re­sorts par­tic­i­pat­ed in the an­nu­al event ti­tled Cel­e­brat­ing Our Peo­ple Week dur­ing June 18 to 23. Each ho­tel was paired with an­oth­er Hy­att ho­tel and for 2012, Hy­att Re­gency Ji­nan (Chi­na) was part­nered with Hy­att Re­gency Trinidad.

The week at the ho­tel kicked-off on June 18 with the "Hy­att Olympics," where as­so­ciates were grouped in­to teams com­pet­ing against each oth­er in a num­ber of ac­tiv­i­ties. To pay trib­ute to its sis­ter ho­tel in Chi­na, Hy­att Re­gency Trinidad host­ed a Ji­nan Day on June 20 where as­so­ciates had the op­por­tu­ni­ty to en­joy some tra­di­tion­al Chi­nese cui­sine, mu­sic and dance.

The Em­bassy of the Peo­ple's Re­pub­lic of Chi­na do­nat­ed books and DVDs on Chi­na's his­to­ry, craft, ar­chi­tec­ture, folk­lore and med­i­cine to the ho­tel, as well as mem­bers of the Chi­nese Arts and Cul­ture Stud­ies So­ci­ety pa­rad­ed for the staff with their por­tray­al of the li­on dance.

On June 21, as part of the Hy­att Glob­al Vol­un­teer Ini­tia­tive, where giv­ing back to the com­mu­ni­ty is a fun­da­men­tal as­pect of the ho­tel's cul­ture, as­so­ciates out­fit­ted with brooms, mops and scrub­bing brush­es spent the af­ter­noon at Kids in Need of Di­rec­tion (Kind), a school ded­i­cat­ed to pro­vid­ing ed­u­ca­tion­al, nu­tri­tion­al, med­ical, emo­tion­al and vo­ca­tion­al as­sis­tance to dis­ad­van­taged chil­dren since 1998, for a clean-up dri­ve. Vol­un­teers from a va­ri­ety of de­part­ments, cleaned and or­gan­ised the school's store­room, li­brary, com­put­er rooms, class­rooms and pub­lic ar­eas, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the chil­dren and teach­ers.
