Three-month-old Sophia Thomas has been giv­en a sec­ond chance at life. On June 16, 2012, Sophia ar­rived in Mi­a­mi to be­gin her med­ical treat­ment at the Jack­son Memo­r­i­al Med­ical Cen­tre at the Holtz Chil­dren's Hos­pi­tal. She was di­ag­nosed with hav­ing Se­vere Cleft Lip and Palate. In a state­ment, Hope of a Mir­a­cle Foun­da­tion said Sophia was eval­u­at­ed by plas­tic sur­geon Dr Seth Thaller who then re­ferred her to an Oto­laryn­gol­o­gist (ENT spe­cial­ist) to re­ceive clear­ance for surgery on June 29.

Sophia had two pro­ce­dures done: one for cleft lip re­pair and a sec­ond pro­ce­dure called Bi­lat­er­al Myringo­to­my or tube place­ment. The foun­da­tion said the surgery went well. Her treat­ment was made pos­si­ble through an al­liance be­tween the foun­da­tion and IKF's Won­der­fund, a pro­gramme of the Jack­son Memo­r­i­al Foun­da­tion. Hope of a Mir­a­cle Foun­da­tion has fa­cil­i­tat­ed more than 50 surg­eries to change the life of sick chil­dren in T&T.

The foun­da­tion said it still need­ed sup­port to change the life of 18 oth­er sick chil­dren on the wait­ing list.The foun­da­tion said any­one will­ing to help can send their con­tri­bu­tions to:
