A British woman who trust­ed her friend's cousin to dri­ve her home was in­stead robbed and raped be­fore be­ing thrown out of a mov­ing car. The 54-year-old tourist told po­lice she was lim­ing at a bar with a friend in Ch­agua­nas when the cousin joined them.

Po­lice said the woman had too much to drink, so the cousin of­fered to dri­ve them home. Af­ter drop­ping off his rel­a­tive, the man then took the British cit­i­zen to Boyka­to Trace where he robbed her of $35,000 in jew­el­ry and $80. He then raped her and threw her out of the car be­fore speed­ing off. The car was found aban­doned at Madras Road, Cunu­pia.

Mean­while, in a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, a 22-year-old Pe­tit Val­ley woman es­caped an al­leged rapist af­ter she board­ed a gold Cif­ero at Chin Chin Road, Cunu­pia. The woman told po­lice she asked the dri­ver to take her to Cunu­pia. How­ev­er, a short dis­tance away, the man grabbed the woman and told her he was go­ing to rape her. He turned the car around. The woman plead­ed with the dri­ver to drop her off. On reach­ing Munroe Road, she opened the car door and jumped out. She stopped a pass­ing car as the as­sailant drove off.

The woman was tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion where she re­port­ed the mat­ter. She was tak­en to the Cou­va Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal where she was treat­ed and dis­charged. Po­lice have since launched a search for the sus­pect. No ar­rests have yet been made.
