Po­lice are yet to es­tab­lish a mo­tive for the mur­der of Rus­sel Her­nan­dez who was shot while asleep at a house in Ch­agua­nas yes­ter­day. Her­nan­dez, 53, of Pash­ley Street, Laven­tille, died on the spot af­ter be­ing shot twice in the head. In­ves­ti­ga­tors said around 4.30 am, Her­nan­dez was ly­ing in bed with a fe­male com­pan­ion at Al­mond Dri­ve, Cashew Gar­dens, En­ter­prise, Ch­agua­nas, when two gun­shots were heard. The woman hid and when the gun­fire stopped she re­alised Her­nan­dez was bleed­ing from the head.

She called the po­lice and a team of of­fi­cers in­clud­ing Sgt An­der­son Pa­ri­man, ASP Galin­do, Cpl Elvin and PC Nel­son vis­it­ed the scene. The body was viewed by Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr Bir­jah who or­dered its re­moval to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James. Po­lice have not es­tab­lished a mo­tive for the crime. How­ev­er, late yes­ter­day a 34-year-old man was be­ing in­ter­ro­gat­ed in con­nec­tion with the killing. PC Nel­son of the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
