Police are yet to establish a motive for the murder of Russel Hernandez who was shot while asleep at a house in Chaguanas yesterday. Hernandez, 53, of Pashley Street, Laventille, died on the spot after being shot twice in the head. Investigators said around 4.30 am, Hernandez was lying in bed with a female companion at Almond Drive, Cashew Gardens, Enterprise, Chaguanas, when two gunshots were heard. The woman hid and when the gunfire stopped she realised Hernandez was bleeding from the head.

She called the police and a team of officers including Sgt Anderson Pariman, ASP Galindo, Cpl Elvin and PC Nelson visited the scene. The body was viewed by District Medical Officer Dr Birjah who ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre in St James. Police have not established a motive for the crime. However, late yesterday a 34-year-old man was being interrogated in connection with the killing. PC Nelson of the Chaguanas Police Station is continuing investigations.
