Members of the public can visit Tattoo Village, which opened in Woodford Square, Port-of-Spain, yesterday. Marketing committee member for the Military Tattoo and Tattoo Village, Ucill Cambridge, explained the idea behind the village, which is being called Conquerabia, the name given to Port-of-Spain by the Amerindians following a battle. “We decided to recreate an Amerindian village in Woodford Square. It is part of Government’s 50th Independence anniversary celebrations put on by the Ministry of National Security,” she said. She said the theme was “spear and drum.”

Hoodriders Motorbike Club assistant, Brian Vidal, was on hand to speak to members of the public about safety awareness. During the week, members will hold a motorbike stunt show. Acting Fire Station Officer, Kevin Vincent, said equipment used in search and rescue and operational fire-fighting also will be on display. B mobile, National Flour Mills, Fire Services, and other corporate citizens will be showcasing their goods at the Village. Black Stalin, KI, Oscar Francois and Laventille Rhythm Section will provide entertainment during the festivities. In addition, The Cloth will host a fashion show and members of the Air Guard will land a helicopter everyday on Hart Street. The village will be open until next Sunday.
