If you missed out on yes­ter­day's spe­cial com­mem­o­ra­tive is­sue of the T&T Guardian, it's not too late to get a copy of this keep­sake. When this 32-page spe­cial sold out at deal­ers all over the coun­try ear­ly yes­ter­day, the T&T Guardian de­cid­ed to reprint it, in re­sponse to the mas­sive and con­tin­u­ing de­mand from read­ers. Pub­lished to mark the oc­ca­sion of T&T's 50th an­niver­sary of In­de­pen­dence, this com­mem­o­ra­tive is­sue con­tains pages from the Trinidad Guardian (as it was then) from Au­gust 1962. This unique pub­li­ca­tion is ex­clu­sive to the T&T Guardian, the on­ly na­tion­al dai­ly news­pa­per whose tra­di­tion dates back as far as In­de­pen­dence. (In fact, the T&T Guardian cel­e­brates 95 years of pub­li­ca­tion to­mor­row, Sep­tem­ber 2.) Re­pub­lished in the orig­i­nal broad­sheet for­mat, the spe­cial In­de­pen­dence is­sue con­tains news sto­ries, pho­tos and spe­cial ar­ti­cles com­mis­sioned for the oc­ca­sion from lead­ing writ­ers in­clud­ing Derek Wal­cott, CLR James, Dr JD El­der, ar­chi­tect John Newel Lewis and folk­lorist and artist Al­fred Co­dal­lo.

As well as the na­tion­al news, read­ers will find sports news, opin­ions, pro­files and fea­tures in this repli­ca of the "big pa­per"'-and a page of clas­si­fied ads that re­veal some star­tling dif­fer­ences be­tween the cost of liv­ing to­day and 50 years ago!
