Forensic pathologist Dr Valery Alexandrov believes Donna George was killed suddenly and had no time to ward off her attacker. Alexandrov, who performed an autopsy, said George, 48, of Preau Village, St Mary's, Moruga, died from several chop wounds to the neck. The chops, which stretched from one ear lobe to the other, were deep enough to reach the spine. There were no further marks of violence on George's body to suggest she had time to put up a struggle. Alexandrov said it was possible that George was killed while she slept. The carotid arteries which channel blood to the brain were severed and there was a chop wound on George's shoulder.
Meanwhile, a 49-year-old suspect held in connection with her murder, remained in police custody last night. The suspect surrendered to police around 7 am on Wednesday. After being chopped, George's body was covered with a sheet and her attacker sat in a hammock outside the house, waiting for the police to arrive. George's sister, Debbie James, believes the murder was premeditated. She said last week Sunday, a man locked George inside the house and put a knife to her throat. George later left the house and went to the nearby village of La Rufin to stay with James. However, she returned home a few days later. Funeral arrangements for the murdered woman are still being finalised. Police said the suspect would be charged with murder.
