Fear and anxiety gripped Maraval residents for about two hours yesterday when land slippage occurred at Silver Trace, Saddle Road, due to heavy afternoon showers. Around 2.30 pm, residents reportedly saw the water level rising on Saddle Road and contacted the authorities.

Councillor for the Moka/Bossierre area, Nadine Romany confirmed that there was a landslide that blocked the main artery into the district. Compounding the flooding problem was debris which was caught in the main waterway. The blockage of the road caused traffic to pile up as far as the St Clair roundabout. By 5.30 pm members of the Diego Martin Regional Corporation were seen clearing the roadway of debris resulting in the flood waters subsiding. Ministry of Works officials are expected to visit the area today to assess the damage.
