A hit and run ac­ci­dent has claimed the life of a 42-year-old man. The ac­ci­dent oc­curred on the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route on Fri­day night. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, 37-year-old Marie Be­dau, her hus­band 39-year-old Gar­ry Be­dau and their friend El­ton Joel Gibbs, all from Arou­ca, were stand­ing on the north­ern side of the bus route near Rail­way Road around 8 pm. A white Lancer mo­tor car head­ing east broke the traf­fic light and slammed in­to Marie and Gibbs.

The dri­ver nev­er stopped. Gibbs, whose left leg was sev­ered, died on the spot. Marie re­port­ed­ly suf­fered in­juries to the low­er part of her body, while her hus­band es­caped un­hurt. The in­jured woman was rushed to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex where she un­der­went emer­gency surgery and re­mains ward­ed. Po­lice were able to get the reg­is­tra­tion of the car and are con­tin­u­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
