Businessmen and residents of Caparo, Flanagin Town and environs are elated over the re-opening of the Brasso Police Station at Flanagin Town. And they say there is now a need for an aggressive communication campaign to alert the public on this initiative. "The nightmare is over with. We now have access to national security in the neighbourhood again. The 21st Century Policing was never aimed to give security and comfort to the thousands of residents in the area," one businessman noted.
"We want to praise acting Commissioner of Police, Mr (Stephen) Williams for his deep acumen and foresight in bringing back what real policing is, and to which we have been accustomed to over the several decades," he added. Residents had complained that the 21st Century Policing had not brought the relief residents of the district were calling for and there was a fear that crime would increase.
"We want to commend Minister of National Security Jack Warner for insisting that the natural policing way was the only serious initiative to solve crime and other criminal issues," a villager said. There was a need for the senior police officials to rework the re-introduction of the former system in the minds of the populace he said.
