Deya makers in Central will be selling a smaller, cheaper earthen vessel in time for Divali. Andy Benny, who operates Radika's Pottery shop at Chase Village, Chaguanas, said harder economic times may see pottery makers rolling off a cheaper and smaller deya for the celebrations in November. Benny said regular deyas would be selling at $8 a dozen, the same price it sold for last year.
However, he said, deya makers would put on the market smaller deyas that would go on stage at $5 a dozen in a bid to attract more customers who are on a budget. Benny said another advantage of the smaller deyas is that they would use less oil.
